International Student Identity Card

The ISIC (International Student Identity Card) is the only world recognised proof of full-time student status, endorsed by UNESCO and distributed annually to over 4.5M students in over 132 countries worldwide. The ISIC has been delivering substantial savings to students for over 60 years and its benefits are available at over 150.000 locations worldwide and include leisure, cultural and travel discounts (see www.isic.org).

The legitimacy and credibility of the ISIC as “THE” globally recognised and accepted student ID card is further reinforced by a number of in-built security features such as a 4 colour image front and reverse, a secure unique serial number with an algorithm, and also the signature and a photo of the student. The ISIC also incorporates the UNESCO logo onto the card design and also complies with ISO standards (ISO 7816).

The GTS Group also distributes the ITIC (International Teacher Identity Card), available to full-time teachers, professors and other teaching staff and also the IYTC (International Youth Travel Card) available to all youth under the age of 30. Both cards are also endorsed by UNESCO.

GTS Alive facilitates the introduction and adoption of the ISIC as the official student identity card at numerous Universities and schools in the countries where it is active. These co-branded cards incorporate the ISIC’s globally recognised visual layout and the academic institutions own inbuilt technological solution and / or specific design. The card may also function with local transport or payment networks as required/desired.

In many cases, the local partnerships have resulted in the creation of triple co-branded cards, bringing together the functions from the ISIC, any payment functionalities (credit/debit/pre-paid Bank cards) and functions required by an individual University or school. This ultimately allows the student to carry just one card with multi-functionality offering reduced costs to the vendors.

Database management & student verification

GTS Alive has invested and developed its own complete cardholder database management solution. Fully compliant with local and global data protection laws, the database platform allows student status verification in real time for benefit partners world-wide, ensuring not only improved security, but also allowing partners to dictate rules and conditions on frequency of use and protection against potential benefit abuse.

Furthermore, the various data collection interfaces allow for partner schools and Universities to select the optimum and preferred way of processing student data for card personalization and / or validity control which best suit their own needs and requirements.

In each territory where GTS Alive is active, we have, and continue to develop a series of multifaceted communication activities aimed directly at the local student community. These activities may also vary within the respective territories for different segments such as for those attending secondary level and those attending third, or tertiary level education.

In each of the countries represented, we offer a standard local student website containing local content and respective news and daily updates. We keep cardholders up to date via electronic newsletters, and offer a strong presence in social media and within online community websites. GTS Alive also publishes student magazines, and also implements numerous student events such as campus road-shows and student parties.

Individual summer and winter benefit campaigns also carry their own specific communication plans and exposure to our niche target audience.
